2019 is somehow upon us, perhaps the quickest year of my entire life. I don’t even remember December, usually a month filled with countdowns, Christmas films and days shopping was instead filled with work, late nights and more work.

I don’t really like new years eve as I find it a bit depressing that the next few months will be dark and freezing cold, possibly some random snow somewhere. Nothing to look forward to. My family went through a pretty hard time last year so now I’m going into 2019 with a bit of apprehension instead of excitement about what is to come.

However, I’m determined to make realistic resolutions that I can stick to this year. Obviously there’s the classic “go to the gym and lose weight” but I’m going to think of that as more of a lifestyle choice than a resolution as I’m more likely to stick to it that way. This year I’ve also come up with a few resolutions that I hope I can actually achieve, for the first time ever!

Bring lunch to work more

I think I bought lunch in the work cafe nearly every day in December just for ease. I was so knackered that the last thing I wanted to do was to go home and make a lunch. The food at work is lovely, but ends up being really pricey so I’m hoping to avoid it when I can in the new year.

I’m going to push myself even harder and try to go a whole month without buying anything (maybe not January, it’s too soon to struggle through Diet Coke cravings).

Learn a new skill

I think everyone says this, they want to learn a new language or something that is probably not feasible. I’m really hopeful about this one as I have already signed up for a course that will mean I am qualified for something at the end. Really exciting, but I’m not going to say yet as it might all go t*ts up.

Take the stairs more

Working full time with a 3 hour daily commute in total, sometimes the last thing I can face when I’m home is the gym at peak time. To get my steps up more I’m going to try and take the steps in the office and up to my flat. This has been harder to orchestrate than I originally thought as I stumble bleary eyed into reception and automatically follow someone into the lift, only to remember my resolution as the doors close. (Dramatic, I know). I don’t really like taking the stairs first thing in the morning with my coat on and my bags as I’m all hot and bothered by the time I’ve reached my floor then have to spend the day like that, but taking them if I pop to the post room or to the shops at lunch will do me good. I’ll take them down at the end of the day… that’s way easier aha.

Be more confident

I’m desperate to do more with my blog. I’m starting the year off with a new layout and some new features, but I’m not very confident with photography. I’m going to work on that this year.
